WOOOOOOOOOO! Part 1

This weekend was a blast from start to finish - I can't remember the last time I had so much fun!
First off, we flew miss Malina in from planet fabulous to celebrate her 30th birthday, which turned out to be a ton of fun.

Once she got to my place, we screamed our hellooos and got down to the bizznazz of opening her gift(s). I think I was more excited than she was for her to open it cuz it was driving me crazy all week!

I got her a new camera and accessories, and she LOVED it:

After gift opening, we opened a bottle of champagne and caught up for a bit, then headed out for a sushi lunch - where we continued the party with lots of laughs and plenty of sake.

After lunch, we shopped around china town for a bit and then headed back home, where we proceeded to suck helium out of a birthday balloon and video tape ourselves talking like munchkins. Yes, we are fully mature.

For Mizzo's birthday dinner, we went to a beautiful little french restaurant called Rouge in Inglewood. All I can say about the food and wine is OH. MY GAWD.

Pate, apricots, and bitter chocolate sauce:

Scallop Etouffe and vegetable "jewels" in cajun sauce:

Roast duck with lavendar rissotto:

The most amazing creme brulee in the universe for dessert:

It's a really nice restaurant - I'd recommend it any day of the week.
It's an old victorian style house that they've turned into a restaurant, and the patio, where we sat, is set in a humungous backyard with a garden that you can walk around after your meal. We didn't do that cuz we were laughing too much and didn't want to make spectacles of ourselves, but it looks like a nice after dinner stroll nonetheless.

Some pics from zee dinner:

Saturday we went to the zoo for the afternoon before heading out to Skybar's annual summer bash in the evening. Here are a few pics from the zoo visit:

Saturday night, we headed over to Skybar's party. I brought Malina along as a surprise guest - none of the gang had seen her in almost 5 years!

5 years apart only took 5 minutes to be right back in the groove - it's so weird how it seems like you've only seen/talked to someone just yesterday after a long time away.

The party was a blast as per usual at chateau Skybar...I can't remember the last time I laughed so much! It was a riot.

I've got more pics and videos to upload later from the all the debauchery - many of them featuring group dancing in the living room where all you can hear repeatedly on the audio is WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! And cameos of Jeff's hot ass in a sick pair of come eff me jeans.

Woot! What a weekend!

More to come later...

Hot Time, Summer In The City

I realize I haven’t written in well over a month, so I figured I’d post an I’M STILL BREATHING post in case anyone was wondering.

I’ve been having lots of fun so far this summer…been camping, hiking, stampeding, concert going, catching up with old friends, etc.
So I suppose there’s been lots to write about, but I just haven’t felt inspired to blog about anything.
Seems the days are zooming by, and before you know it, you haven’t written anything in a month!

The major news story of the last 2+ weeks is the effen weather.
It’s HOT. YE GODS IT'S HOT.
Haven’t seen significant rain in like 3 weeks and every day is 30 degrees or higher. Add humidity and you are sweltering.

My apartment has been so hot I’ve had to sleep at Sandy’s for the better part of a week now just so I can get some sleep.
This is highly unusual for Calgary. Christ – today is supposed to reach 36 degrees with the humidex for crying in the sink! Feels like yer hanging out in a pre-heated oven, for realz.
Hope it cools down soon, it’s just really uncomfortable out there. I think there’s really something to this global warming thing after all.

ANYWAAAYS.
I’m sure I’ll be posting early next week at the latest as this weekend is going to be a humdinger for excitement.

Till then, keep cool.
