Rocky Mountain High
This boulder field is called The Palliser Slide. It's the remnants of two very large landslides from the mountain years ago:
I thought the terrain was very Lord of the Rings-esque:
About 3km into the hike, there is a beautiful waterfall called the lower Kananaskis falls where we stopped to enjoy the roar of the water and have a very well deserved bite to eat:Beautiful, yes?
Look at the colors in the water from the minerals...
It's GO-GEOUS up there!
The hike took us about 4 hours or so, and with a lot of the terrain being quite steep and covered in boulders, we were all exhausted when we finally returned to the vehicles to head home. But it was a very good kind of tired.
It was a really great trip and we're hoping to do a few more this summer while it's nice out.
You just can't beat the views, the air, and the feeling up there...It's totally amazing.
I think next time I'll be sure to get some rigorous excercise in before heading out to the top of the world - I have muscles screaming at me today that I didn't even know existed!

Isn't it the greatest hike ever? Not far from the city, only a few hours, unbelievable scenery. Just seeing those shots makes me want to head out there right now!
